| The rise of on-line rentals grows every day. The window between a film's theatrical run and video release shortens each year to help deter piracy. Major video retailers are constantly exploring new options to battle for your almighty entertainment dollar. How can an independent rental store compete with the hysteria that is the world of video retail? Simple, love your product. Maybe not that simple, but with mostly theatre experience under my belt (and a few years of video retail), I've taken a leap of faith and opened my own video store in the Montrose area. Only a few miles away from competing locations, I hope that the same community that embraced such locations as Cactus Music and Video & Video Scope (both now closed) will support yet another independently owned business. We've haven't reached a comfortable level of cash flow, but judging by our steady growth in memberships and return customers, this venture seems right. What distinguishes my store from national chains is my personal attention to each customer and my drive to help new members experience not only challenging films, but quality ones as well. My inventory might be small, but it's more about quality then quantity. Titles range from Carol Reed's FALLON IDOL to rock musical HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. I also carry an eclectic mix of television shows. MONK, ROME, BLACK BOOKS, WEEDS & UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE just to name a few. This business, this dream was never meant to be just another video store. From local film screenings to potentially creating our own film festival, this store can achieve much more then just rentals. Thanks for your time and I hope to see you at the store real soon! Rob Arcos - Owner
